Revelstoke had an old 12" cast iron water main running down a steep hill to supply the town. Open cutting this project was not feasible for many reasons, including the grade and the fact that there is a 6" AC waterline very close to the 12". Pipe bursting was a small 130m section of the total job and P.W.Trenchless went in as a sub contractor. At the top end HDPE pipe was to be fed through an existing culvert under the Trans Canada Hwy and the hooked up to the burst section of pipe. At the lower end the HDPE pipe had a flange welded onto the end prior to the burst so that a mechanical joint could be done.
