The pipe was on a steep grade so a large sump was dug under the pipe and filled with drainrock. this gave us a sump, to pump out the sewage, so that it didn't go down the host pipe. The orange hose was from a large vacuum truck.

The blue circle is the end of the host pipe and right above that is the brace of the trench shoring cage. The blue line is beside the winch cable.
