* Set up separate company to take over trenchless type construction.
* Completed first contracts for the City of New Westminster within 3 weeks.
1986 - present Project Manager/Estimator
P. BARATTA CONSTRUCTION LTD.: Surrey, B.C.
Assumed direction of operation in early 1990's and established organizational objectives and initiatives in line with corporate goals and strategies.
Operated as the sole estimator for a 10-year period, responsible for contract strategies, take off's to subcontractors and final mark up.
Increased annual revenue from $2.2M to $3.5M from 1994-1997 and to $4M in 1998.
Championed re-direction of the company into the Trenchless Technologies of pipe installation and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
In 1994, the company completed a $900,000 "world first" sewer system for the City of New Westminster utilizing HDD at flat projects in the Queensborough area of New Westminster and Coquitlam based on the success of the initial contract.
The company was engaged in a project to install 2,404m of 600mm gravity sewer in 2 shots to complete another "lst" in gravity sewer technology.
Implemented the "lst" and only microtunnelling project to date in British Columbia with the 1996 completion of a $1.5M contract to install 480m of 800mm sewer on Clark Drive for the City of Vancouver.
Completed the installation of 500m of 900mm pipe on a tight grade by HDD.
Completed various pipe bursting projects in the Lower Mainland.
Directed company into the construction of major storm and sanitary pumping stations, resulting in the completion of 8 storm and 2 sanitary station project. These contracts generally included cofferdam, piping and other projects difficulties. The company has concluded that this market is no longer within the company's objectives as it is now being pursued by low mark-up type of project management companies.
Established valuable working relationships with major contractors PCL, Walter & SCI, Foundation etc. and have become one of their contractor's of choice.
Responsible for maintaining and developing new dialogue with municipal and other government decision makers.

Collaborated in the design of the municipal services at Panorama Ski Resort as well as various local developments.

Environmental concerns
The use of Trenchless Technology allows for the installation of required underground infrastructure with a much lower carbon dioxide release to the atmosphere.
The lack of open trench means less excavating no removal of native ground to dump sites and the required hauling of imported fill material for the trench. Trucks emission are kept to a minimum during Trenchless operations
