Sherman South and Aspin Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation

Explanation of Project

The findings of a recent CCTV inspection program in the Sherman North and Aspin areas showed that a significant portion of the sewer pipes exhibit excessive deformations, which are resulting in considerable amounts of ground water entering the sewer system. Not only is there a risk of failure of the pipes – leading to sewer blockages, but the added ground water contributes unnecessarily to the cost of sewage treatment.

Scope of Work

A rehabilitation strategy was developed by UMA Engineering to target critical defects in the system, and after careful consideration of the costs, the option of pipe bursting was identified as the most suitable technique to repair major system defects. Pipe bursting is a minimum excavation technique, that minimizes disruption to residents and the landscaping of the area.

Minor defects are to be repaired by grouting methods, that will be carried out without any excavation.

The pipe bursting component of the work will be carried out by PW Trenchless Construction Inc., and the grouting work will be carried out by Martech Underground Pipe Services Inc. will be conducting the pipe bursting this month.
