PipeBursting is a method of replacing existing pipe by sending an
vairpowered(pneumatic) missile shaped "Jackhammer" to break up the existing pipe.Bolted onto the back of this tool is HDPE pipe. HDPE (high density polyethylene) is a strongflexible pipe that is similar to the pipe used by Gas Utility Companies.
A Heavy Duty winch has a cable attached to the front end of the Tool and it guides it along the existing or "host" pipe.

Sliplining is one of the oldest methods for trenchless rehabilitation of existing pipelines. Sliplining is used to repair leaks or restore structural stability to an existing pipeline. Sliplining is completed by installing a smaller, "carrier pipe" into a larger "host pipe", grouting the annular space between the two pipes, and sealing the ends. Sliplining has been used since the 1940s. The most common material used to slipline an existing pipe is high density polyethylene (HDPE), but fiberglass reinforced pipe (FRP) and PVC are also common. Sliplining can be used to stop infiltration and restore structural integrity to an existing pipe. The most common size is 0.20m - 1.5m (8"-60"), but sliplining can occur in any size given appropriate access and a new pipe small or large enough to install.
Directional boring also known as Horizontal Directional Drilling
Directional boring, commonly called horizontal directional drilling or HDD, is a steerable trenchless method of installing underground pipes, conduits and cables in a shallow arc along a prescribed bore path by using a surface-launched drilling rig, with minimal impact on the surrounding area. Directional boring is used when trenching or excavating is not practical. It is suitable for a variety of soil conditions and jobs including road, landscape and river crossings. Installation lengths up to 2000 m have been completed, and diameters up to 1200 mm have been installed in shorter runs. Pipes can be made of materials such as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, Ductile iron, and steel if the pipes can be pulled through the drilled hole. Directional boring is not practical if there are voids in the rock or incomplete layers of rock. The best material is solid rock or sedimentary material. Soils with cobble stone are not recommended. There are different types of heads used in the pilot-hole process, and they depend on the geological material.
The use of Trenchless Technology allows for the installation of required underground
infrastructure with a much lower carbon dioxide release to the atmosphere. The lack of open trench means less excavating no removal of native ground to dump sites
and the required hauling of imported fill material for the trench. Trucks emission are kept to a minimum during Trenchless operations
The Earliest Trenchless technology was tunneling but pipe jacking has been used since the 1890's. Used under railroads, cast iron pipe was installed with the use hydraulic jacks. In the 1930 reinforced concrete pie with sizes up to 72 was installed via pipe jacking.
Technology from the oil fields was used to successfully install electrical utility cables during the late 1940's. Development of a machine with a wet boring device using hollow stem drill rods with a cutting head rotated by a oil drill rig.
