“Phil” started with P. Baratta Construction in 1993 and is P.W. Trenchless’ longest running employee, enrolling with the company while his father was PWT’s main excavator operator. Beginning at the bottom, he was involved in the infancy of the company’s experiments with Trenchless Technology. His natural ability to figure out any technology and his ability to work well with any crew, soon made Phil a wanted member on all of the company’s crews.
Trained as a Pipelayer, Phil’s ability to adapt to changing conditions and diverse temperaments of those around him, has lead to his quick climb up the ranks. By 1999 he was one of the company’s Foreman, then in 2002 he was promoted to Superintendent and is now Operations Manager. At PW Trenchless, Phil continues to implement new management techniques that are continuing to improve the company. Phil is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of construction contracts as well as the effective management of field administration.
Always keen to learn more, and work hard, it is not unusual to see Phil in the ditch helping out if needed.
When you join PWT, you become part of a community of people who are engaged in the most innovative practices in the Trenchless Industry. We have been instrumental in setting up a scientific method for cities to gain carbon offsets/credits from their use of trenchless construction. This system has been reviewed by the BC Government and has been approved as of December 2018. We expect to see it in common use shortly.
